The interior of Restaurant Bond Berlin, designed by Berlin-based interior design firm BERLINRODEO which was founded by Axel Schaefer in 2005.

+ Project description courtesy of Axel Schäfer

The restaurant is designed to echo the glamorous style of the Bond films from the 60’s and 70’s, but with a modern sensibility that brings it up to date. Specially designed interior components (abstract ornamentation that evoke the movies themselves) divide the restaurant into different zones.

The centerpiece is a golden-lit bar with an opposing stylish wine shelf, both of which were created especially for the restaurant. The smoking lounge, located in the rear, is conceived as a communicative element and is equipped with an bio-ethanol fireplace.

Various lighting moods and intensities are made possible by a computer-controlled LED system, which is hidden behind espionage mirrors. An additional highlight is the floor-to-ceiling graffiti on the theme of BOND by Berlin artists M: M. The predominant color spectrum ranges from black to gold to rosewood, whilst unique elements, such as smoked glass, enrich the design.

+ About Axel Schäfer

Axel Schäfer, born in the town of Brandenburg an der Havel, studied architecture in Berlin and gained experience in leading, international offices. In 2005 he founded his own company, BERLINRODEO.

Axel Schäfer deliberately choose the name BERLINRODEO. Berlin, this city with its distinctive charm and its individual character, is HIS city. One can describe Berlin best with words like directness, tolerance, antagonism or roughness. But the city also epitomizes home, consistency, security, and creativity. “Rodeo” suggests the stylised antagonism between a bucking horse and cowboy. It is unruly ferocity, potency and freedom embodied by the horse versus the bravery, skills and discipline represented by the cowboy. This struggle is always based on respect and humility vis-à-vis Nature. The combination of both terms defines the local, creative, emotional and spiritual home of Axel Schäfer.
