Mexican designer Héctor Esrawe recently has designed the benches Centipede collection for Mexico City based furniture brand – Pirwi.

On behalf of Pirwi, Esrawe Studio developed a collection of benches made of birch plywood with walnut finish, the concept aims through a multiplicity of legs to generate a sense of movement and lightness, this undulating shape does not allow to establish one point of contact with the floor at the same time, giving the illusion that the piece is walking.

Centipede I and II concave and convex are made for a single user , when the user sits on the concave bench, he alters its position towards two controled points of movement.

Centipede III allows the use of more people at once and becomes a piece to lie down.

The birch plywood is certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and the bench finishes are nontoxic and biodegradable, it has an efficient design that allows minimum waste of resources for manufacturing. It contains no synthetic or metal parts.
