OLEH Lighting Concepts for KONICA MINOLTA | AGENT
With the best innovation on lighting since the invention of the light bulb, AGENT and KONICA MINOLTA present OLEH Lighting Concepts. Commissioned by KONICA MINOLTA; the AGENT team explored new applications for the OLED lighting technology, under the subject “Lighting up the earth for the next generation” and came up with two concepts: STRIP LIGHT & WEARABLE BAND OF LIGHT.
+ About OLED lighting technology
OLED is the first light source that emits the light from the surface itself. It can provide illumination for large areas as well as for very small ones. It is thin and flexible and can be curved in any way.
OLED lighting saves energy by approximately 30% compared with fluorescent lamps, and approximately 85% compared with incandescent light bulbs, it does not use substances that pose a hazard at the time of disposal, making it a safe, clean, environmentally responsible source of light.
Its key attributes are:
- The surface emits the light
- Surface is bendable (curved lighting)
- Slim and lightweight
- Stays cool
- Low CO2 emissions
- Clean Energy
- Efficient
CONCEPT 1 – STRIP LIGHT
It began as an idea to fuse public seating with street lighting; stretched out, flexible OLED lighting panels bent at various levels to form benches of light, serving as public seating or display surfaces, and this evolved into a bus stop with illuminated timetables and neighborhood maps that are clearly visible even at night.
Forget maps at each junction, tap a marker and follow the strip of light to your destination.
Beyond the bus stop, the strips of light extend along the roadside creating a dynamic system that illuminates the city streets, as needed, day or night.
A hybrid of:
public bench + public lighting + urban info
Forget maps at each junction, tap a marker and follow the strip of light to your destination.
Beyond the bus stop, the strips of light extend along the roadside creating a dynamic system that illuminates the city streets, as needed, day or night.
OLED lighting has a very high-energy efficiency, reducing CO2 emissions. It contains no hazardous substances (such as mercury), making it an environmentally sound, clean form of lighting ideally suited to lighting up the earth for the next generation.
CONCEPT 2 – WEARABLE BAND OF LIGHT
Cool, wrap-on accessories that glow with light and can be worn around your body, matching your personality.
The bands are lightweight, bendable, slim, and cool, and can be curved any way you like, they can be as thin as a piece of paper or cloth. Patterns of light can be arranged in countless variations to decorate and create any desired mood.
They bands can be combined with other pieces of jewelry and can also display text and graphics. When people wear the bands they can be easily spotted by drivers at night, this gives the product an extra quality of “functional jewelry”.
A hybrid of:
jewelry + safety element + wearable light
The bands are lightweight, bendable, slim and cool, and can be curved any way you like.
They bands can be combined with other pieces of jewelry and can also display text and graphics.
