The Taal Monument in Paarl \ Photography by Katarina Balgavy
Katarina Balgavy shared her photography of the Taal Monument in Paarl. Designed by the architect Jan van Wijk, the Taal Monument is located on a hill overlooking Paarl in the Western Cape Province and is one of the most famous Afrikaans monuments erected in South Africa and dedicated to the Afrikaans language.
Afrikaans is the language that links Western Europe and Africa; it draws its strength from these two sources; and forms a bridge between the enlightened west and the magic of Africa.
