Kempinski Ambience Hotel in India \ Hirsch Bedner Associates
HBA / Hirsch Bedner Associates recently has completed the interior project for Kempinski Ambience Hotel. Just East of New Delhi, India and opening in July 2012, the Kempinski Ambience is located in the largest convention center in Northern India and will feature 480 luxury hotel rooms, five restaurants, two pools and a state of the art spa and fitness center.
Because the Kempinski Ambience is part of a mixed use space, HBA wanted to create a very strong and unifying feeling throughout the property. By looking to India’s rich culture and history HBA was able to create a space that is both organic to its location and in line with the standards of the global luxury traveler.
David T’Kint, HBA Senior Designer
THE LOCATION
The five-star deluxe hotel will be set within an office and conference complex, about a 45-minute drive from Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, in the historic neighbourhood of East Delhi, Shahdara.
THE DESIGN
HBA brings a fresh approach to design in the region with contemporary transitional fashions accented with subtle touches of re-interpreted Indian elements. Traditional patterns and customary Indian architectural details are spread throughout the property and the graphic elements of the main exterior façade are incorporated within the interior features of the hotel to create a unifying thread throughout the space.
In order to create a space for the most sophisticated travelers that would also meet the needs of the Kempinski Ambience business clientele, HBA used a palette that is both elegant and calm, relying on warm beiges and browns that are accented by splashes of rich Indian color tones including indigo blue, saffron yellow and vibrant reds. Cultural references are underlined by an art collection comprised of works by contemporary Indian artists, which in turn act as a highlight of the interior elements.
THE HOTEL
The hotel will feature 480 rooms and suites, four restaurants and a bar, and state-of-the-art conference and banqueting facilities, including a Grand Ballroom accommodating up to 5,000 people, making it the ideal destination for leisure and MICE travellers alike. The property also boasts an extensive spa and fitness centre with a sauna and hammam and two swimming pools.
