HBA continues their rich tradition of integrating faraway cultures with the height of modern luxury with the design of the Park Hyatt Hyderabad. The contemporary, international hotel is situated only minutes from the city’s banking and financial district and represents top of the line luxury to an emerging location.
The most distinguishable design feature in the seven story hotel is the open atrium. HBA was able to create a space that is both tiered and staggered allowing an enormous amount of light to break through. The space feels intimate because of the atrium’s cocooning affect.
Greg Bates, HBA Senior Associate
HBA took inspiration from their surroundings for the overall design of the hotel. During the initial design stages, HBA designers spent time getting acquainted with the environment visiting local museums, viewing historical architecture and studying local culture and fashion.
The result translates into Indian colors, patterns and fabrics that can be seen throughout the hotel. Indian motifs are found in the carpets which feature traditional henna patterns but are massively oversized in scale to look contemporary and not traditional. Silk accents and vibrant colors influenced by Indian saris also permeate throughout the hotel’s design.
The impressive lobby is designed with sparkling water features and plants that surround the hotel’s signature 35-foot tall white, abstract John Portman sculpture. Titled “Becoming,” the sculpture is a twenty-seven foot high (8.23 meter) undulating form in a matte white finish prominently positioned at the end of a 131 foot long (40 meter) linear reflecting pool that runs the length of the lobby. Serving as a contemplative counterpoint to the dramatic atrium space, it is mounted on a thin reflective stainless steel platform that creates the impression that the sculpture floats just above the surface of the water.
The modern, eight-story Park Hyatt Hyderabad includes 185 guest rooms and 24 suites on the first six floors with 42 service apartments on the two uppermost floors.
Spacious, welcoming and modern, each of the hotel’s guestrooms are among the largest in Hyderabad, measuring at least 463 square feet. Soft, neutral earthy tones and shades of silver and green in the guestroom furnishings create a soothing ambience, while large glass windows with beautiful curtains add natural daylight within the room.
The guestroom plan is revolutionary where guests may walk in the middle of the room and the bathroom is on both sides. The opulent, spa-inspired bathrooms include unique wet areas with oversized soaking bathtubs and glass enclosed showers.
Tastefully furnished, with generous touches of contemporary features, all restaurants at Park Hyatt Hyderabad are designed with interactive show kitchens, which are central to the guest experience. Tre-Forni, the hotel’s signature restaurant is furnished in muted earth tones, dark polished hardwood floors, and hand carved Italianate tiles.
For a traditional Indian menu, the formal Dining Room offers light and flavorful Hyderabadi dishes and classic European favorites. For a light bite to eat, The Living Room offers the hotel’s signature selection of freshly prepared macaroons and other French pastries, as well as elegant Western and Indian-inspired high tea in the afternoon. The friendly and warm Oriental Bar and Kitchen is a gathering place to meet friends or business associates for drinks and offering Southeast Asian comfort snacks and other dishes.
The hotel offers exquisite spa experiences designed specifically to provide guests with a total sense of purity, tranquility and peace of mind and spirit. The 10,000 square foot facilities include five well-equipped treatment rooms, an outdoor swimming pool with sweeping views of the Banjara Hills, beauty and grooming studios for men and women, a state-of-the-art Fitness Center, private cabanas and a meditation garden.
HBA used a color scheme that consisted of a creamy neutral background with lavender, lilac, pink and amber. The treatment rooms have custom wood counters cut from whole logs with rough ‘live bark edge’ topped with hand cast bronze decorative sinks. Walls are scored and stacked with teak plank accents.
