A Toronto based designer Anwar Mekhayech has completed the Generator Barcelona.
Award-winning hostel brand, Generator expanded its urban-design property portfolio in spring 2013 with the addition of its first venture into Spain in Barcelona. Widely regarded as Europe’s fastest growing hostel brand, Generator’s boutique-inspired hostels offer style-conscious travellers a unique retreat in some of the most popular cities in Western Europe.
Its Barcelona property was brought to life under the guidance of chief designer, Anwar Mekhayech, a partner of the Toronto-based The Design Agency. Mekhayech, who had previously worked with luxury brand clients including Soho House and Shangri-La, recruited local architects to ensure the property’s interiors took inspiration from Barcelona’s distinctive cultural scene.
The brand also commissioned a plethora of bespoke artworks from fledgling local artists in a bid to nurture a unique and vibrant hostel environment for visitors to Barcelona. The in-house events teams also expertly maximise the property’s social spaces with an inspirational blend of creative installations and pop-up fashion boutiques to live music and beat-box acts.
Combine this genuine flavour of Catalonia with retro photo booths and traditional table football and pool games and Generator’s latest urban-design marvel in Barcelona’s fashionable Grácia district is sure to offer an on-trend hostel experience.
